After lunch at Shakadang Trail we arranged our vehicles in caravan fashion once more. We passed leisurely through Hualien and drove south until we arrived at Jici Beach. Some of the group pitched tents on wooden platforms, whiles others prepared food or swam.
The beach sands are dark like the schist walls of Taroko Gorge to the north. Along the beach, I found smooth dark stones. Raised bands of white marble encircled them.
Once in the water, strong waves slapped hard against me. I surrendered and allowed them to push me toward shore.
